Chris Conte, the former Chicago Bear, took it personal against his old team today as he pulled off a pick-six against Jay Cutler and the Bears today in the first quarter. Cutler telegraphed a pass and the athletic Conte was able to rise up and catch the ball in stride around the 20 yard line and take it home uncontested.
In four years with the Bears, Conte had only one interception and was considered a disappointment based on the expectations set for him. Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ kicker Connor Barth also gave his old team something to grimace about as he converted a 54 yard field goal after facing much criticism during his tenure with Tampa Bay.
The Bears sit at 2-6 at a point where assessing the future of long-time quarterback Jay Cutler is crucial for the future of the franchise. The Buccaneers have been one of the more inconsistent teams on the season sitting at 3-5 with a chance to tie the New Orleans Saints today with a win and Saints’ loss.
